Approach

New product development

From requirements to hardware and firmware.

Define the device's functions, physical constraints and connections before selecting components or developing the board and firmware.

Requirements and system development

  • System requirements
  • Component selection
  • Hardware and firmware design

Establish the requirements before implementation

A project may begin with an enclosure, existing machine, preferred controller or required function. These inputs establish the interfaces, power requirements and physical limits. AUBRIX can develop them into a design brief, with the engineering stages and outputs agreed before implementation.

01

System architecture

Assign functions to the board, firmware and connected application. Operator controls and actuator outputs may need separate boards, with a command interface between them.

02

Component suitability

Compare electrical requirements, package size, firmware support and connector access. Review sourcing options and record alternatives that need approval; similar parts are not necessarily interchangeable.

03

Early verification priorities

Identify assumptions that could materially change the design. An interface check or placement review can resolve a critical requirement before detailed development continues.

Engineering process

Project
process.

  1. 01

    Define functional requirements

Document intended use, inputs, outputs, available power and physical constraints. Separate essential functions from later features.

  2. 02

    Assess architecture and components

Compare controller and communication options against the requirements. Resolve compatibility and sourcing questions before committing components to the layout.

  3. 03

    Develop hardware and firmware

Prepare the agreed schematic, placement, routing or firmware foundation. Review connector positions, electrical interfaces and software responsibilities together.

  4. 04

    Review readiness for prototyping

Record the revision, open questions and verification plan. Determine whether the design needs further review, a prototype build or a focused firmware test.

Depending on the agreed scope

Project
deliverables.

  • Requirements and interface documentation
  • An agreed schematic or PCB design package
  • Component selections and reviewed alternatives
  • A firmware outline and verification plan

Outputs are agreed for the assignment. Design files and assembly renders document a design; manufacturing, prototype bring-up and production release are separate stages.
